Examples of reattaching covers to leather bindings using the japanese paper method adovcated by Don Etherington. This is an ideal method of repair on fine-bindings of the late 19th early 20th century; particularly when the leather on the spine is extremely thin and with gilding or raised bands.

Le Tour du Monde en Coquille de Noix. This illustrated children's book was resewn and the binding was rebacked with cloth.

Parables of Our Lord, 1848.     Papier-mache binding with black leather spine. The book originally had a rubber adhesive binding. To allow the binding to open easily for reading, the pages were guarded and sewn in signatures.
